Foundation Work

I was looking through some of my old work that I did back in my Foundation studies and found these photo's. The 'Purple Bird' was the first maquette that I've ever made and this made me realize that I could sculpt! I guess this is where it all began. I wanted to make more! The second one I made was a Tiger with polystyrene mountains built around it. The project's based on the Chinese Mythology called 'The Celestial Emblems'. I was still a beginner at this point in terms of my sculpting skills.

A mini project using Super Sculpey Firm. It's the first time I've used the firm sculpey and they're great for details! Will use this more often. Hopefully, get him painted up and put him in a shell.

I've been working at Aardman Features since January 2010 on their feature film, 'Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists'. A comedy adventure based on two books from the cult 'Pirates!' series by Gideon Defoe and directed by Aardman co-founder Peter Lord (Chicken Run).

Hey sorry for my lack of activity on my blog. Been quite busy recently. Just finished a 2 weeks work experience at Calon, a Cardiff based company and I am now trying to learn to use ZBrush. It's really fun but I still have a lot to learn though. I'm still trying to get use to using the tools and also remembering what each of them do etc. Progress is slow but eventually I'll get there. I'm also going to learn Maya as well, so hopefully I'll have something good to put up on here :)

This is my 3rd year showreel. I made the Car, Horse and Skip for my 2009 Final Major Project and the Tree maquette I've made during my 2nd year on the animation course.

This is the car I've made for Mathew Pollock's final year film as part of a collaboration project. The body of the car is made out of blue foam that's been carved into shape and glued together. It has working headlights as well.

Got sometime to write up a new post :)

Right now I'm in the middle of my Production stage and got 4 projects to make:

- Animatable vehicle (Collaboration)
- Skip (Collaboration)
- Horse Maquette
- Two female Concept sculpts

I have completed 2 of the projects; vehicle and the skip, and I'm now in the process of making the horse maquette. I finished filming the vehicle yesterday to put in my showreel but realized there were still bits that need adding, so have to film it again but hopefully I can upload the clip on here soon for you guys to see :)

Hey! Thought I'd post some of my recent works. These are the maquettes I've made for my Minor Project at uni. Had to sculpt two maquettes each with different expressions and poses. It looks okay I guess, could've done better though.

My production started about 2 weeks ago and I'm going to make two more sculpts, a female and a horse. But at the moment I'm making a large vehicle and a prop for this guy's film as part of a collaboration project. I'm enjoying the building process so far but I can't wait to do some sculpting! :D
